Documentation
Documentation is considered a vital part of the conservation treatment by Sophie Brummitt Studio.
When a painting is brought into the Studio it is inspected using a range of different aids including magnification, surface microscopy and inspection under UV light.
Both the paint layers and the support are examined to provide a full and detailed condition report. A treatment proposal and quote are then provided. The client is provided with the condition report, treatment proposal and quote before having to decide whether to proceed with the work.
Digital, colour corrected photographs are taken throughout the treatment. These include before, during and after treatment images. Other more detailed pictures and photomicrographs may be taken in certain instances.
Once the proposed work has been carried out a full treatment report is supplied for each painting. A copy is provided to the client at no extra cost.
The digital images are also supplied on disc. Both the documentation and images should always be kept with the painting to inform any future conservation work.
The Studio is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Please ring or e mail the Studio for directions and to make an appointment prior to visiting. The Studio is fully insured, secure and equipped to carry out a complete range of conservation treatments.
